Accrington Stanley celebrate the one year anniversary of the historic milestone, that is, winning promotion back in to the football league.

Last year on the 15th April, Stanley beat Woking 1-0 to clinch promotion back to the Football League after a painful 44-years.

Suprise, suprise who got the Stanley goal. Paul Mullin got the only goal of the game 38 minutes in Mark Boyd’s effort was diverted home by Mullin to send Stanley’s trvaelling support in to raptures.

It was on-loan goalkeeper Rob Elliot, who was the hero for Stanley though. Mullin, the goalscorer handled Simon Jackson’s cross in to the box and Woking had them selves a penalty. Richards stepped up, but Elliot saved only to have the rebound smashed in to the back of the net, it was disaloud though, and the referee ordered a re-take. And guess what…. Elliot saved again!

The full time whistle sparked pitch invasions from the ecstatic travelling Stanley fans, Stanley were back!

Stanley need one more draw or win to stay up for another season, so when Stanley travel to Shrewsbury on Saturday, the promotion-hopefuls better not underestimate the Stanley, who are playing with more and more confidence every day!
