Defender Tom Aldred knocked up his 50th consecutive start for Accrington Stanley in the victory over Chesterfield.

Having been released by Colchester United back in January 2013, the 23 year old signed for us as a free transfer and went on to make his debut as a substitute in the game against Rochdale the following February and he hasn’t missed a game since.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Aldred said.

‘It’s a brilliant achievement. If I had stood here a year ago and said that to you it would have been crazy because I’d had a few different club so to come here and put my name into the team and to play as many games consecutively is something I’m really proud of.’

Not a bad way to celebrate 50 appearances with Aldred also picking up the man of the match award following the victory against Chesterfield.

He’ll no doubt be hoping it’s the first 50 of many more to come.
