FORMER Accrington Stanley loanee Godwin Antwi has joined Coca-Cola Football League One side Tranmere Rovers on loan until the beginning of January.
Antwi spent a two months on loan at the Fraser Eagle Stadium at the end of the 2006/07 season, making a total of nine appearances and planting himself firmly as a fans favourite with a string of fine performances.
Last season ‘God’ was at League One side Hartlepool United where again he was a regular star in the side, and John Coleman was interested to bring the commanding defender back to East Lancashire but has missed out this morning with the news that he has joined Tranmere.
Chester City and Rochdale were also in the frame to take on the Ghanian born centre back after he impressed them whilst with Stanley and Hartlepool.
Assistant manager Jimmy Bell told the Lancashire Telegraph at the end of June: ‘Myself and John (Coleman) have spoken about him and it hasn’t really gone any further than that at the moment.
‘But he’s certainly a player that we will be pursuing.’
Good luck ‘God’.
