ACCRINGTON Stanley goalkeeper Kenny Arthur has this morning signed a new one year contract with the club following a clause in the big Scot’s old deal.
The clause stated that if the big man played over 20 games in the 2007/08 season after signing from Scottish club Partick Thistle, then he would have the option of a further year at the Fraser Eagle Stadium. An option that he has taken Stanley up on.
Arthur, 27, almost didn’t make it though as he missed four months with a broken leg suffered in the win agaisnt Bradford City at Valley Parade in October.
Rumours had been growing over the keepers’ future and League One Play-Off contenders Carlisle United were said to be interested to take the Scot as a backup next season as Keiron Westwood looks set to depart.
