Barnoldswick Town 2
Accrington Stanley 1

AN Accrington Stanley side made up of mainly youth’s and trialists, lost to West Lancashire Football League outift Barnoldsick Town on Thursday evening.

A crowd of just over 300, saw Barnoldswick upset the odds and beat a equal quality Accrington Stanley side, made up of players from the club’s Youth Academy and a few of the club’s trialists.

It took the sides 45 minutes to break the deadlock, and it was Barnoldswick who went into half time with the lead. A corner taken by Paul Bennett was headed home at the far post by Neil Chapman, who gave Martin Fearon no chance.

The game equalled out, as Barnoldwick’s boys gave Accrington a real run for their money and 70minutes in Wittaker doubled the Barnoldswick lead, after smashing the ball in to the back of the net.

Accrington did manage a consolation goal though, the goal coming just four minutes from time wheren Stanley cut through the Barnoldswick backline like a knife. The goalscorer though is an unconfirmed trialist.
