Manager John Coleman has brought Anthony Barry back to the club on a loan deal until January.

The 28 year old moves back to Accrington Stanley after beginning his professional career with us following his release by Coventry City as a youngster, and he made his re-debut for us in last night’s Lancashire Senior Cup defeat to Manchester United.

His parent club is Forest Green Rovers of the Conference.

Speaking to the Official Site after the paperwork had all gone through, Coleman explained.

‘We haven’t got a great deal of cover in midfield and that’s an area that we’ve highlighted for strengthening. He did exactly what I expected of him last night and he’ll be a very good addition to our squad.’

Coleman goes on to say that since leaving the club he has become a better player, and he’s very steady and very much a does what it says on the tin type of midfielder.

His previous spell with us saw him make over 25 appearances back in the 2005/06 season as we won the Conference title and promotion but he left before our celebrations began as he moved onto Football League Yeovil Town.

Since moving to them he’s gone on to gain further experience with Chester and Fleetwood, before moving to Forest Green last season – making over 30 appearances for them last term.
