STEVE Basham is the latest name to be linked with a move to Accrington Stanley, following his release from League One new boys Exeter City.
A national newspaper is this afternoon suggesting that Basham, 31, could be set for talks with Reds manager John Coleman ahead of a proposed move to East Lancashire.
Whilst with Exeter, the club were promoted to League Two via the play-offs and then immediately won direct promotion to League One last season. At the end of the 2008-09 season, the club announced Basham’s contract was not extended, leaving the former Oxford hitman open to a move up north.
During five years with Oxford and over 160 appearances, Basham scored 43 times making him a firm fans favourite with The U’s before his switch to Exter.
Whether or not this has any truth to it begs to be seen, but only time will tell.
