Manager James Beattie has said he couldn’t have asked for more effort from the players in the fantastic five one victory over Morecambe last night.
Accrington took the lead after only five minutes through Lee Molyneux who went on to register a brace in the game. Further goals added by Kal Naismith, Dean Winnard and Tom Aldred gave us the very comprehensive victory and Padraig Amond’s consolation six minutes from time was just that.
Speaking to the press following the match, Beattie beamed.
‘I’m delighted with the performance, all the lads were tremendous. We started off on the front foot and never stopped. It’s funny though as the defenders are more disappointed that they conceded one goal!’
As for the performance overall Beattie was delighted with the way we sprayed the ball around, passed it and kept possession and he thought it showed exactly how good this team can be on their day, and potentially where we can go if we can find a level of consistency in that performance and our ruthlessness in front of goal.
‘It’s was a big result, we are in a relegation battle and we need to motivate ourselves both physically and mentally now for every game.’
The win lifts Accrington into 15th place in the division and we sit on 44 points, so if we can continue to keep our noses in front then all will be well.
