Manager James Beattie was a happy man at full time today as we collected our first three points of the season with a three two victory over Tranmere Rovers.
A brace from James Gray and a late Kal Naismith winner gave us maximum points for the first time this campaign, and the gaffer has now called on the team to build on it and get our league campaign off to the start we would’ve wanted.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained.
‘I’m delighted and it’s a relief. It was a great game to win, as any is, and to get that first win of the season in very pleasing. Tranmere are a good side by our resilience and passion for the badge shone through and that’s why we managed to get three points.’
Beattie goes on to say he was pleased with our start to the game, because we were bright and took a deserved lead, but obviously they then came back into the game but he was delighted to not see our heads drop, and to see the lads keep plugging away.
‘It was three points which were richly deserved.’
Four points on the board now of hopefully many more to come in the coming weeks so we can start lifting ourselves up the table more to where we’d hope to be this campaign.
