Manager James Beattie has backed the players to bounce back from the disappointing result against Rochdale in our last game.

When Rochdale went down to ten men, Accrington almost managed to get themselves back in to a share of the points, but it wasn’t to be, and James Beattie has told the Official Site that he’s backing the players to get the right result when we face Plymouth this weekend.

‘I thought we were unfortunate on Saturday not to get something out of the game, but I can’t fault the players. Their endeavour and application was very good and what we expect from them all the time. We just couldn’t break Rochdale down.’

Beattie admits that it will be a great weight off if Accrington can pick up their first three points of the season. Unless it’s a win by some fantastic margin, it won’t lift us off the bottom of the table, but a win is a win and it will help keep us in touch of those teams trying to build up a buffer and the confidence shot alone, and proof if you will, that we can win games this year, could be monumental for the players and the gaffer obviously appreciates that. It will also be proof for the players that what they have been working hard on in training will pay off.

The gaffer says despite an unwanted start to his first managerial job, he’s still relishing the challenge ahead and he admits he’s learning all the time but if anything, he feels honoured by having the chance to manage the club, so even after a defeat – something he’s tasted often so far – he’s coming to work with a smile on his face because despite the challenge, he’s loving it.

Hopefully he’ll love it even more after that first win and our first three points of the season, and once we get it and it will be the catalyst to get ourselves on a run.
