Manager James Beattie has said he’s looking towards the Chesterfield game to return all three points as we head into a key period of the season.
Speaking to the Official Site following back to back away victories, we now have a run of home games for a bit, and Beattie knows we need to take full advantage of the boost that provides and really make our home ground a fortress between now and the end of the campaign.
‘We’ve got a good number of home games coming up and hopefully we can shift our good form to those home games but try to keep the away form going too! I think it’s just one of those things, the surface is probably the best it’s ever been so there’s no problems there. It might just be one of those unexplainable things that happen in football but we’re very keen to change it as soon as possible.’
Of course the Chesterfield game does take on a different dimension when you consider it’s the return of both Paul Cook and Leam Richardson, and of course it was Leam that brought Beattie to us in the first place.
Our current gaffer is pretty confident both will get a warm welcome, especially Leam, but he is hoping they leave unhappy.
Of course with Chesterfield sitting top of the league by a couple of points, it’s going to be a tough match for us to win, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to try as Beattie isn’t overly worried about the underdog tag or what people outside of the club think. He feels we can get all three points as long as we perform to our best and that will be his focus.
