James Beattie has spoken about being offered the chance of returning to football at the club and his love of the game.
Speaking to the BBC he said he was loving life at the grassroots level and he adores seeing the dedication of the fans which means he can get up each morning with a smile on his face knowing he’s going to enjoy his day.
‘It’s just a love of football, I can’t see my life without it at the moment. I still wanted to play desperately and I thought I had a lot to offer, it was just that nobody was willing to give me that chance. It’s a bit of a come down I suppose, from everybody wanting you to everybody saying ‘you haven’t played and we don’t know how fit you are.’ Leam got the position and asked if I want to come and do a bit of coaching as well. To play in a relaxed atmosphere and to be around a friendly face, who I knew was going to look after me – it was an easy decision.’
As everyody knows Beattie and Richardson were apprentices together at Blackburn Rovers so it was perfect for James, in fact the only thing he complains about is the commute as it takes him about five hours to drive up.
