James Beattie did have a smile on his face come the final whistle against Nelson, and he was delighted with the overall performance levels.
Speaking to the Official Site following the 4-2 victory, Beattie firstly thanked the club for inviting them down before talking about the performance of the team.
‘Personally I’m delighted with the performance of the team, I don’t think their work ethic will ever be in question and it’s something we’re going to work really hard on. There were some very pleasing passages of play and some very inventive football.’
Beattie admitted that there were some mistakes as the game drew on, but there are always teething problems in pre season as players adjust again, but it’s something that can be worked on again on the training pitch.
