Manager James Beattie has called on the players to get themselves back on an unbeaten run tonight when we face Bury.
Following on from the Scunthorpe defeat in our last game, Beattie says he’s desperate for us to get back to being unbeaten and preferably get ourselves on a run of back to back victories so we can continue to pull ourselves away from the bottom of the table.
We sit in 20th place in the league only four points off the relegation places, but our opponents tonight are only one point behind us, so anything other than a loss will keep that gap in our favour, but a win of course would do us the world of good.
Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, Beattie said he wanted to get off to a good start against Bury because it’s the first of three games against teams in and around us in the league, so we give ourselves some good momentum up the table with positive results.
‘I’ve already earmarked this week as a defining moment in our season. We play Bury, Torquay, and then Portsmouth. We can’t look too far forward but I’ve put the seed in the lads’ minds that this is a big week and that everyone has to be on point mentally and physically.’
Beattie says that if we are at our best and focused he has no concerns about the results of the three games at all, because as always he has confidence and belief in the players and he knows what we are capable of achieving.
