Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has now extended his stay at the Store First Stadium until the end of the season.

The 21 year joined us initially back in August, and went on to make 19 appearances for us across all competitions but he recalled over Christmas owing to injury worries that Fulham had, and then returned to us on a second loan spell in early January.

So far in that period owing to postponements, he had added a further three appearances to his Accrington tally, and he’ll be no doubt looking forward to much more first team game time now he will be with us until the end of the campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site as the deal was announced following negotiations with Fulham, Bettinelli said.

‘I’m delighted to be staying. I was a bit disappointed to have to go back over the Christmas period which meant I missed a few games. Dawbs came in and did a great job. It’s great to know I’m here until the end of the season. I’m really enjoying my time and being part of a great group of lads with a fantastic work ethic and we want to get the club as high as we can up the table.’

Bettinelli says on a personal note, that as a goalkeeper it’s very important to be playing regularly for your own development, and this is a tough league and he’s learning his trade still with us, and he doesn’t believe he could’ve landed at a better club than Accrington this season.

Manager James Beattie was obviously delighted to have secured him until the end of the season, and he thanked Fulham for being open to the deal extension.
