ACCRINGTON Stanley skipper Peter Cavanagh has admitted that he would like to extend his contract at the Fraser Eagle Stadium beyond the end of the current campaign.
Cavanagh, 27, has missed most of the current campaign with a number of niggling injuries including a spell on the sidelines when he had to undergo a hernia operation earlier in the season.
The skipper has been in East Lancashire for seven-and-a-half years since his release from Premier League side Liverpool and has been ever present in the Accrington side. But as of yet only Paul Mullin has a secured contract for next season from the first team.
“I`m just looking to stay in football,” said Cavanagh speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph.
“You never know when it can end, whether that`s at Stanley or somewhere else. You take it where you can get it.
“Obviously I`m enjoying it here at the moment and long may that continue. If I`m happy, I`m keen to stay.”
