Manager John Coleman has completed the permanent signing of free agent Craig Roddan today, and also brought in goalkeeper Jack Rose on a loan spell.
21 year old midfielder Roddan has signed a short term deal at Accrington having been on trial with us for the last few weeks and impressing.
His former club Liverpool released him in the summer, but he did also have a short loan spell with us last campaign.
Speaking to the Official Site the manager explained.
‘He’s impressed with his attitude in training, he played against Manchester United (Lancashire Cup) and played really well and I think he can offer us something different.’
Coleman also admits the decision to sign up for a bit was made easier as he can provide cover for the injured Anthony Barry as well, so it gives Roddan a chance to seize the moment so to speak and make his mark.
19 year old Rose moves to us for a month from West Bromwich Albion and he has been a regular in their under 21 side so far this season.
Speaking himself after training with the lads for the first time, he said.
‘It’s been good, I’ve been welcomed really well and didn’t feel out of place. I want to hit the ground running and get off to a good start. This is the next step that I need to take, and I need to take the chance with both hands and take it well.’
Rose comes in following the injuries sustained by our previous on loan goalkeepers Aaron Chapman and Jesse Joronen and Coleman is confident that Rose will have the desired impact at the club, but importantly stay fit himself.
