Accrington Stanley are represented in the latest League Cup team of the round that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Accrington Stanley in their first round tie against Preston North End was enough to earn them a place as manager of the side of the most impressive performers in the League Cup competition.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Coleman was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the EFL Cup blurb read.

‘After masterminding a win over Burnley last year, Coleman put another one over a Lancastrian rival. Preston North End were the victims this time around, falling to a 3-2 defeat courtesy of Billy Kee`s stoppage-time winner.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Coleman for his recognition, but the most important thing was of course the win.

Full Team:

Jed Steer (Aston Villa), Nathan Baker (Bristol City), Mark Ellis (Carlisle United), Denis Odoi (Fulham), Mauro Vilhete (Barnet), Samu Saiz (Leeds United), James Maddison (Norwich City), Billy Bodin (Bristol Rovers), Mohamed Eisa (Cheltenham Town), Che Adams (Birmingham City), Shawn McCoulsky (Newport County).

Manager – John Coleman (Accrington Stanley).
