ACCRINGTON Stanley gaffer John Coleman told the Accrington Observer of how he has been talking to a number of players about possible moves to the club.

DefenderJ ohn McCombe, who has just been released from Huddersfield Town, was a player that Coleman had chased in the past but was unsuccessful, he admitted that he took a mental note of him being available though.

The Reds are also in talks with an un-named League Two striker. He also hopes to speak to ex-Burnley player Graham Branch in the coming weeks.

‘I have spoke to a couple of players and I am due to speak to another today. We need players in every position really but especially defenders.’ Said Coleman speaking to the Accrington Observer.

‘I want to have one or two players signed by the end of next week. I have been talking to a striker from League Two as well.’

Speaking on the current goalkeeping situation at the club, Coleman admitted he would take back David Martin from Liverpool, but he needs quick decision from Rafa Benitez as he has other potions open to him.

‘I would love to sign David Martin again but I need a quick response from Liverpool as I have also got another option. We can`t hang on.’

Stanley did hand a trial to Danish goalkeeper David Olsen at the friendly against Clitheroe at the beginning of the month, but one appearance isn’t enough to make up John’s mind.

‘David Olsen is still an option but it wouldn`t be fair to judge him on one game and it might be something I look at in the summer.’

Coleman is also set to speak to youngsters, striker Andy Mangan and defender Danny Ventre in the coming week in hope of thrashing out new deals.
