Accrington Stanley have brought in Huddersfield Town’s Matt Crooks.

The 20 year old joins us on loan until January having already had a similar loan spell out with Hartlepool United this season.

Crooks can play in midfield or up front and having come into the club now, he explained to the Official Site.

‘My loan at Hartlepool finished on Monday and I trained at Huddersfield on Tuesday before getting the call that evening to say that if I wanted to come here I could and I jumped at the chance.’

The youngster goes on to say that he believed he developed and learned a lot during his time at Hartlepool so to get the chance to build on that and hopefully get more match minutes under his belt was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down because life in the first team is a lot different from life at Under 21 level so he’s looking to put that into practice for us now.

Assistant gaffer Jimmy Bell described him as a big, strong forward who is more than capable of getting the ball down and playing as well and they are looking forward to him proving he can be an ‘important player’ for us over the festive period.

‘He trained with us for the first time and we’re looking forward to having him in the squad for Saturday’s game with Cambridge United.’

Crooks has been handed the No 33 shirt for his time with us.
