ACCRINGTON Stanley last ngiht rejected a bid from Coca-Cola League Two rivals Rochdale for vice captain and the Reds’ all time leading goalscorer Paul Mullin.

Mullin, 34, has been at Stanley for a stint that stretches an amazing eight years and has so far this season hit the back of the net of five occasions, and this has alerted Dale who are looking to secure promotion to League One after missing out last year in the Play-Off Final.

Chief Executive Rob Heys told the Accrington Observer: ‘There has been a bid by Rochdale but it was nowhere near our valuation of Paul.’

Manager John Coleman added: ‘The club didn`t even consider the offer. Paul is a good player and we don`t want to lose him.’
