The earlier kick off at the 96.6 TFM Arena, did Accrington Stanley absolutely no favours as John Coleman’s outfit went down 2-1.
Darlington’s win saw them stretch their unbeaten run to nine games, as they moved up to eight. Stanley stay 20th in League Two.
The hosts should have taken the lead in the ninth minute when Julian Joachim somehow screwed wide of an open goal after Tommy Wright’s shot was parried by Stanley’s on-loan ‘keeper Kazimierczak.
Wright did bag the opener though with a sensational volley on 20minutes. Eight minutes later Greg Blundell nodded in Martin Smith’s cross to ensure The Quakers went in to Half Time with a 2-0 lead.
Accrington came out fired up for the second half and soon on Paul Mullin had put Stanley back in contention. Andy Todd supplied the ball, that Mullin bagged.
Darlo managed to hang on, despite all of the late Stanley pressure. Stanley face Lincoln City at the Fraser Eagle Stadium next on Saturday 24th February 2007 with a kick off of 3:00pm.
