TODAY Vital Accrington Stanley starts a new campaign, in an attempt to save the club’s glorious name from become yet another Franchise.

Don’t play with the most famous name in the beautiful game, will try to get as many names as possible to hand to the club in an attempt to stop the club’s name changing to Lancashire Stanley United.

Many supporters have already shown their disgrace at the clubs attitude towards the fans that walk through the turnstyles at the Fraser Eagle Stadium week in week out, and many are beginning to turn on chairman Eric Whalley.

Accrington are trying to gain supporters for the club, but there is a way to do it and this certainly isn’t it. By supposing a name change the clubs current supporters are threatening to boycot the club.

Why should it take a name change for people to support Accrington Stanley? The name is all that would change. It’s the same stadium, it’s the same staff, it’s the same players and most importantly it’s the same club with the same illustrious history to go with it.

It is the same club and always will be, so why not support us now?

If calling us Lancashire Stanley is bringing in fans from around the count then why not rename the club World Stanley XI, then surely Wembley would have to be the clubs home ground?

Knowing the shambles that is Accrington Stanley’s boardroom staff, I wouldn’t put the World Stanley XI past them as a club name, as you never know what will happen.

So far the campaign has 46 supporters, and it is expected to rise. To show your support to the campaign e-mail Vital Accrington not Vital Lancashire Stanley at accrington@vitalfootball.co.uk
