ACCRINGTON Stanley have today completed the signings of experienced duo Paul Carden and John Miles. Both join Stanley on free transfers after their contracts came to an end at their previous clubs.

Carden, 28, joins from Burton Albion, after being a long term target of John Coleman’s. The influencial midfielder started his career as a trainee at Blackpool before enjoying spells with Rochdale, Doncaster Rovers, Chester City and Peterborough United.

Miles, 26, signs on from Macclesfield Town. His career started at Liverpool, where he was a trainee with Peter Cavanagh, before moving on to Coca-Cola Championship outfit Stoke City. Spells with Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield saw him through to his Stanley switch this morning.

If you remember Miles was the hitman who netted twice against Stanley last month in the relegation six pointer, which Stanley won and ensured safety with.

I would like to tell now of how both players rejected new contract offers from their clubs to move to The Fraser Eagle Stadium ahead of the 2007/08 campaign.
