ACCRINGTON Stanley’s home clash with Crewe Alexandra has been brought forward a day to form a Friday night clash, in hope that the club can draw more supporters in.
The game will now take place on Friday 25th September, with a kick off time of 7.45pm at The Crown Ground.
Stanley played Darlington on a Friday night not too long ago and drew in the second largest crowd at home since a fixture with Torquay United in our first season back in the Football League.
3,228 attended that night, with hundreds of supporters coming from clubs such as; Burnley, Bury, Blackburn and even Aston Villa.
Speaking to the Official Website, Chief Executive Rob Heys said: ‘Hopefully people will understand the reasons for the move, it isn’t something that we are looking to make a regular occurence however it keeps the weekend free for fundraising activities and I am sure that it will also have an impact on the gate.’
It is hoped that the club can achieve a similar support with the local sides once again playing the following day.
