FORMER Accrington Stanley hitman Brett Ormerod is now a Premier League footballer after his Blackpool team astonishingly won promotion to England’s top flight.

The Seasiders overcome Dave Jones’ Cardiff City side at Wembley yesterday afternoon, with a fantastic 3-2 win, despite twice falling behind in the game.

Ormerod, the 33-year-old striker scored a total of 32 goals for Stanley in 52 league appearances back in the 1990s when the Reds were still playing non-league football, and will always be remembered as a Stanley legend.

Also taking part in the game yesterday was Cardiff’s Anthony Gerrard, who enjoyed a loan spell at the Crown Ground some five years ago whilst the club was playing in the Conference.

Vital Stanley would like to congratulate Brett and Blackpool on winning promotion, who would ever have thought it!
