ACCRINGTON Stanley players Ian Dunbavin and Robert Grant have today pleaded guilty and admitted their involvement in a bar brawl that took place in Southport.

However Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard denied his charges and will now face a trial, which is expected to last between two to three weeks.

Stanley goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin, 28, of Guildford Road, Southport, and midfielder Robert Grant, 18, of Enstone Road, Litherland, admitted they took part in the brawl at the Lounge Inn, Southport.

Three other co-defendents also pleaded guilty, leaving Gerrard to stand trial alone.

More to follow shortly.
