ACCRINGTON Stanley have this morning confirmed that 18-year old winger Robert Grant will have to undergo a knee operation which is expected to keep him out for up to six weeks.
The left midfielder who can also operate down the right of midfield started the first two games of the season, both at home to Aldershot Town in the opening League Two game and in the extra time defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carling Cup.
Grant jarred his knee in training and was forced to miss the 2-0 victory over Port Vale at Vale Park on Saturday as John Miles replaced him in the starting line up.
The youngster made his Stanley debut away at Milton Keynes Dons at the end of the 2006/07 season and became the second youngest player to appear in the Football League for Accrington Stanley and the youngest since February 1959.
Grant will have the operation as soon as possible.

Sounds painful. Shame after he had started so well.
