Striker James Gray has said he’s relishing an away trip to his former club Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup this season.
Gray came through their youth Academy before he was released and eventually ended up at The Store First and he’s said it’s going to be a fantastic test for the squad.
Speaking to the Official Site the 20 year old said.
‘I got woken up this morning by about ten missed calls and messages from people asking if I’d seen the draw. It’s no secret that ever since I left Middlesbrough I’ve always wanted to go back so it’s a big tie for me personally.’
Gray says it’s a great draw for Accrington as well because of the size of Middlesbrough and the fact they were in the Premiership not so long ago and it should prove to be a great test for the players as they look to kick on this season.
Gray says that for him personally, knowing the tie will be coming up will give him extra motivation when pre season starts because he knows he’ll want to be at his best when he faces off against them.
