Managing director Robert Heys has been banned from all football and football activity for 21 months with immediate effect.
Mr Heys admitted a number of breaches of the FA’s Betting Rules and had requested a personal hearing.
He has today received his suspension and fined £1000.
Mr Heys has notified the FA of his intention to appeal.
Following this, Chairman Peter Marsden released a statement on the Official Site.
‘Accrington Stanley recognise the important and valued work Rob Heys has carried out for us over many years, often in trying circumstances, but are also extremely mindful of how grave an offence breaches of the FA and Football League betting rules are. Rob has been suspended from working for the club pending the outcome of his appeal to the FA. This appeal is thought to be taking place in about four weeks’ time.’
The statement confirms that Mr Heys has now resigned as a director of the club and that an interim team have been put in place to cover his loss.
The club have also asked for all the background papers from the FA so they can be examined by the Board of Directors.
