BLACKBURN Rovers’ Australian midfielder Rostyn Griffiths has today extended his loan stay at Accrington Stanley by a further month, but the Reds hope to keep him for longer.

Griffiths was due to return to Ewood Park this week following the completion of his initial one month loan deal, but the two clubs have strook a deal to extend the loan until the beginning of November.

The 20-year-old who has played in all four league games he has been available for will be in the squad that will face Bradford City at the weekend, should he prove his fitness to manager John Coleman after picking up a knock to his ankle in the defeat at Barnet.

Stanley’s second in command Jimmy Bell was delighted to have Rostyn onboard for another month and hinted that the deal may be extended yet again.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “We`re very pleased that Rostyn`s here for at least another month.

‘If it was up to me, he`d be here until the end of the season.

“It was clear very early on that he was a good player and I think he`s settled in.”
