ACCRINGTON Stanley have claimed another League One scalp, beating Oldham Athletic at Boundry Park with a thrilling second half fight back to storm into Round Two of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
Danny Whittaker had put Oldham ahead in the first half after just ten minutes, slotting home past goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin, who was covering for the absent Alan Martin.
But the game changed after half time and when Sean Gregan put the ball into his own net on the hour mark, Stanley’s confidence grew and seven minutes later Phil Edwards put the Reds ahead.
Stanley send another League One side out of a cup competition, following Walsall’s exit from the Carling Cup, and on march the reds!
Full report coming soon on Vital Stanley…
