Defender Michael Liddle has said that Accrington Stanley have nothing to fear in the league because any team at this level is beatable and that’s exactly what we’ll be aiming to do when we face Portsmouth later this evening.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, the full back insists that we go to Fratton Park with confidence because of how our season has turned around and we won’t be approaching this game any differently from how we have approached other games so far this term.

‘We saw their result on Saturday and anybody’s beatable in this league. They’re a massive club and we’ll respect them, they’ve got good players and they should probably be doing better than they are.’

Liddle says we won’t go to them expecting a win, but we will go into the game believing that we can come out with all three points as that’s how we approach every game and of course our away form certainly give rise to confidence.

The focus will be on quietening the crowd down and keeping a clean sheet, because if we can remain tight at the back ourselves, the crowd will get edgy and then if we take our chances, well, we only need one chance to grab a one nil win.

As for Liddle himself, he’s back in the team following the suspension to Laurence Wilson, and he was delighted to come back in and help us keep a clean sheet in our last game.

He knows it’s an opportunity to impress and that’s exactly how he’s going to treat it and then hopefully give manager James Beattie a bit of a selection headache when Wilson returns to contention.
