ACCRINGTON Stanley’s neighbours Halifax Town have today finally confirmed that they are no longer a proffessional club, after being kicked out of the Conference.
Halifax fought to save themselves from Conference relegation just weeks ago, and saw Altrincham relegated. But Altrincham have once again been rescued from the drop and will be playing in the Conference next season.
It is the third consecutive season that Altrincham have been relegated only to be saved in the league by other clubs’ fisfortunes.
A new Halifax Town will be formed but will begin life no higher than the fourth level of the non-league pyramid, the Unibond First Division, and could end up a level lower in the Northern Counties East League.
The Blue Square Conference’s General Manager told the Halifax Courier: ‘We feel that Halifax do not qualify. There will be correspondence to the club hopefully today or tomorrow,’ adding that they had heard nothing from the club since Friday’s failed creditors meetings.
We would like to send our best wishes to all at Halifax Town as they attempt to rebuild a great club which saw Stanley have some top away days.

A dark day for football, Pity a premiership “Big boy” couldn’t have bailed them out (by that I mean club or Player)
I totally agree CapnBeakey, will they be able to reform and do what Aldershot and Accrington managed to do and get back into the league.
Just read this article and it looks like they will be in NPL div 1 N next season.

Halifax have struggled financially for decades. Its only a matter of time before more and more clubs go bust.
