WIGAN Athletic’s midfielder come striker, Craig Mahon has this afternoon joined John Coleman’s Accrington Stanley side on an initial one month loan deal.

Mahon, 19, is the younger brother of Burnley’s Alan, and will be with the Reds until the beginning of January at which point he may extend his loan from the Premier League outfit further until the end of the season.

The youngster has been capped by The Republic of Ireland at Under 18 and Under 19 international level but has failed to brake into Steve Bruce’s first team squad at the JJB Stadium, but has been a reserve regular.

Mahon will be available for this weekend’s clash with Bury at the Fraser Eagle Stadium. Tranmere Rovers’ Terry Gornell however will not be available as his parent club have recalled the raising talent to act as cover for the first team at Prenton Park.
