New signing Shay McCartan has said he feels immediately settled at Accrington and his welcome was brilliant.
The 19 year old joined us on a free transfer following his release by Burnley and he thinks everything was timed perfectly as he joined the lads on their trip to Portugal as it made him feel instantly at home.
Speaking to the Official Site the young striker said.
‘Going away to Portugal was probably the best introduction I could have had. Being with the lads 24/7 for five days was great. The lads are all sound and there’s a great team camaraderie.’
McCartan adds his introduction was helped because he already knows James Gray from the Northern Ireland U21, so he obviously helped him settle in from day one and he’s played against a couple of the other players previously.
‘That’s really helped me settle in, the three lads were straight on to me letting me know about the club and helping me out. I went on loan to Hyde and I didn’t know anyone, that can be hard for a young lad, but I haven’t had that problem here.’
