Accrington Stanley have today confirmed that Piero Mingoia has put pen to paper on a new 12 month contract at the club that will see him remain with us until the summer of 2015.

The former Watford Academy graduate joined Stanley on a permanent deal back in August 2013 after impressing during an initial loan spell the season before and so far this season he has made 24 appearances in our shirt, and scored once in the Capital One Cup clash in August against Middlesbrough – the goal turned out to be the winner.

Speaking to the Official Site after the deal had all been sorted, the 22 year old said of the extension.

‘When I didn’t have a club in the summer Accrington gave me the chance to play football again and I’m really grateful for that opportunity. This is a great club with a great manager, staff, squad and set of fans and I’m looking forward to playing here for another year.’

Manager James Beattie said of the extension himself that he was delighted with the form and effort of Mingoia this season.

‘He’s worked tremendously hard over the past few months and has worked himself into the position where he’s a valuable member of our squad.’

Beattie goes on to credit his work ethic and dedication to not only improving personally but also helping to play his part in improving the club, and in light of that it has been decided to reward his efforts with this new contract.

His career stats so far stand at 38 starts with a further ten appearances from the bench, with a return of five goals.
