Birthday boy Lee Molyneux has today extended his loan spell with Accrington from Crewe Alexandra.

Last season’s Player of the Year turned 25 years old today, and celebrated the news by extending his loan spell with us for the maximum 93 days allowed under the emergency loan regulations, and since returning he has made five appearances so far for manager James Beattie.

Speaking to the Official Site as the news was announced, Molyneux said.

‘Confidence wise it’s brilliant knowing that the manager and the staff are backing me. I’ve got a good rapport with the fans and they know that I love being at Accrington. Over the next few weeks until the end of the season I hope I can score some more goals and keep improving my performances.’

Molyneux repeated his earlier claim about feeling like he was returning home when he rejoined us on loan and he feels really settled at the moment and of course having real friends at the club, not just team mates, has made a huge difference to him on that score.

Having not walked straight back into the team and being made to work for it, he says just shows how well Accrington are doing at the moment because there is real competition for places and it’s driving everyone on in the team and hopefully that will continue to show in the results that we are getting.
