MORECAMBE have today aided their transfer kitty with the sale of winger Carl Baker, who has joined League One side Stockport County, but does that mean their back for Ian Craney?

A £175,000 fee rising to £225,000 based on performances will be lining Morecambe’s back pocket, and with manager Sammy McIlroy extremely interested in Accrington’s midfield dynamo Craney, another offer may be imminent.

But the former Altrincham man told the Accrington Observer that he had no intentions of leaving the Fraser Eagle Stadium for a second time: ‘To be honest, I have no thoughts on any of it,’

‘I just want to get myself really fit and keep trying to move this club forward as I believe we should be in the play-offs next year. Everyone at the club is trying to strive towards that.

‘I have got three years left on my contract and I am happy here and just looking forward to the season now.’

Only time will tell if McIlroy trys to tempt our old Eric Whalley into giving in.
