FORMER Accrington Stanley defender Colin Murdock has decided to hang up his boots following his release from the club after just one season in East Lancashire.

Murdock, 34, who had a professional career that spanned 15 years, has now decided to turn his attentions to working for a law firm following spells with Manchester United, Preston North End, Hibernian, Crewe Alexandra, Rotherham United, Shrewsbury Town and finally Stanley.

Last season Murdock made a total of 23 appearances after completing a switch from Shrewsbury in the summer of 2008, but after failing to find a new club has decided to make a change.

Vital Accrington would like to wish Colin the best of luck in his new job.
