ACCRINGTON STANLEY have ruled out rumours that the club are set to offer former Hull City and Nigerian International midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha a deal at the club.

The Daily Mirror last week published the rumour claiming that John Coleman would offer the released attacker a role at the club that would see him become a Player – Coach.

Chief Executive Rob Heys told the Accrington Observer that wages are too tall of an order for the club to compete with and ruled out a move for the Nigerian.

Heys said: ‘I don`t know anything about it and where that story has come from.

‘He has just been released from Hull City so he will be on big money.

‘It is always nice to be linked with big players but there has been no dialogue – although if he wants to speak to us, he can get in touch.’

Okocha is thought to be living in Ainsworth a small town between Bolton and Bury.
