Northampton secured a Sixfields win over Accrington on Saturday afternoon to keep their promotion bid on track.

Accrington twice went close early on, however it was Northampton that broke the deadlock through Chris Hackett (9) when he fired home a free kick.

Other chances passed The Cobblers by before Roy O’Donovan (30) did double the lead on the half hour mark.

The visitors tried to force a breakthrough to get back into the game and did come close, however Northampton could have easily added more also but 2-0 was more than enough to give them an eighth successive home win.
