Republic of Ireland Under 21 international John O’Sullivan has now returned to Blackburn Rovers following the expiry of his loan spell with us this weekend.

He has been a stand out performer for manager John Coleman, bagging four goals and numerous assists during his three month stay at Accrington, and Blackburn manager Gary Bowyer has said he’ll be pleased to welcome him back and have a closer look at him again now because he feels he’s really developed during his time with us.

‘I’m delighted for him, we’ve had him watched, we’ve had him monitored as we do with all our loan players. My personal opinion is that these young players are better playing that football than under 21 football. It’s the real world and he’s grown up a little bit from being there.’

Bowyer added that last year he went out to the Conference and did well, but this year he’s definitely stepped up his game and we’ve benefited from that in his performance levels and the goals he’s bagged for us.

In his three months with us, he made 13 starting appearances and having now returned to Blackburn he will be a loss for us.
