Accrington Stanley are represented in the latest League Cup team of the round that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Elliot Parish in the one nil victory over Burnley last Wednesday at the Crown Ground was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the League Cup competition.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Parish was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the EFL Cup blurb read.

‘The shock of the round saw Sky Bet League Two side Accrington dump near-neighbours Burnley out of the EFL Cup. Try as they might, the Premier League outfit couldn’t find a way past the unbeatable Parish in 120 minutes, and Matty Pearson’s last-gasp goal earned Stanley a Round Three trip to West Ham United’s London Stadium.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Parish for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Elliot Parish (Accrington Stanley), Tyler Denton (Leeds United), Marc Wilson (Bournemouth), Brendan Moloney (Northampton Town), Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Sergi Canos (Norwich City), Sandro (Queens Park Rangers), Lasse Vigen Christensen (Fulham), Callum Harriott (Reading), Oliver McBurnie (Swansea City), Peter Crouch (Stoke City).

Manager – Justin Edinburgh (Gillingham).
