A MIXED Pre-Season saw Stanley head in to their first season back in the Football League with scrambled feelings, following four wins and four defeats.

A 3-2 defeat to local neighbours Burnley was followed by a single goal defeat to minnows Alsager Town.

But now Stanley’s players were fired up and a unfortunate Bootle Town got the Reds’ wrath, with a 8-0 Stanley victory.

With new found confidence, Accrington Stanley welcomed Premiership outfit Blackburn Rovers to The Fraser Eagle Stadium, but confidence counted for nothing. Rovers’ first team winning the Reds’ 3-0.

The goals were back in full swing as Stanley made their trip to Northwitch Victoria, running away with the game, 4-1.

The last game on English soil before a long trip up north for a brief tour of Scotland, ended in a 1-0 win over Blackpool.

Time to hit the road. John Coleman took his troops to Partick Thistle, before heading to East Fife. The Partick game ended in a 1-0 defeat, whilst the Eat Fife match saw Stanley bang in another four, winning 4-1.

The full season report is also now up on the site.
