After a difficult week of three matches in a week, one of which lasting 120 minutes and finishing with a penalty shoot out, Stanley were on the look-out for that ellusive away win.
Going into the game, Stanley were very much the favourites with 2 wins out of five to Bury’s one and scoring 12 to Bury’s 3 but all those stats go out of the window when its a local derby.
Bury did come out the stronger and fully deserved to go ahead when Stanley’s heads dropped in the 18 yard box for Andy Bishop to head in.
The lead only lasted a few minutes until Gary Roberts latched onto an inch perfect cross by Ian Craney on the right to bring his tally to 6 in 8 games.
Again Stanley pressure faded and it was a direct copy of Bury’s first goal that created their second from again a corner, Andy Bishop was left free to score a free header into the bottom of the net.
But again Bury could not hold onto their lead and when Boco caught the ball in the centre of the pitch there was only one thing he could do and he shot from 20 yards out to score a great goal underneath Kasper Schmeichel.
After the second half, things calmed down and there was nothing mcuh to discuss and the game peetered out to nothing.

Player Ratings

Ian Dunbavin
Again, pulled off save after save and if it was not for a lacklustre performance by the defensive back four could have gained Stanley’s first win. A double save in the second half was described by coley as the best save hes seen by a Stanley player.

Leam Richardson
Had a tough game competing with Burnley Youth Team trainee Mark Pugh. But wen he was called upon he did very well.

Robbie Williams
Had a hard game against Glynn Hurst and the very capable Andy Bishop. Was good in the air but did struggle throughout.

Phil Edwards
When he was called upon he was superb yet again. He has proven his part in the first team on numerous occasions this season and was annoyed when he was replaced by Michael Welch just after half time.

Peter Cavanagh
Peter struggled with the pace of the Bury wingers last night. He did read the game very well to pu all important tackles in but was to blame for second goal.

Romuald Boco
Was superb and was rightfully given the call-up back to the first team after a number of appearances on the bench. Did not stop all night and fully deserved his goal.

Andy Procter
His strength that he has was not apparent in this game, his one weakness being his pace Bury used to their advantage and the two goals came from mistakes in the midfield area.

Ian Craney
Was rather static in the game, he did not really have much to do and when he did shoot on goal most times it was off-target.

Andy Todd
Played strong runs into the Bury half on numerous occasions and worked well alongside Gary Roberts. The first goal came from an interception by Andy Todd, which led to the goal.

Paul Mullin
Very much the marked man in this game, obviously his goals on Saturday against Lincoln made Bury very aware of his capabilities. He was also let down by the referee on numerous occasions being blamed for numerous elbows and such that honestly only the referee could see.

Gary Roberts
Had another great game, the only major issue was his tricks, sometimes he does just to much when he can play it more simple. It won’t be too long before he is attracting the attention of other teams.

Jay Harris
Ran like there was no tommorow and for his height nothing frightens him.

Michael Welch
Came on as a direct swap for Phil Edwards and his height played a major part in stopping any third goal.

Manager Rating
John Coleman obviously wanted to win this one just as much as Chris Casper did, but it was not to be and Stanley are still on the look-out for that first away win.

Opponent Rating
Chris Casper as ever quite extravagant in his team choice held 13th placed Accrington to boost their chances of getting out of the bottom three, on this performance they fully deserve not to be there.
