Goalkeeper Luke Simpson has signed an initial six month deal at Accrington Stanley after impressing manager James Beattie during his trial spell.

The 19 year old former Oldham player becomes our second signing of the summer.

Speaking to the Official Site after penning the deal, he talked about how good he had found the atmosphere during his time with us so far.

‘Everyone’s so happy here and loves being here. That’s what I want. I’m a positive person and I like to have positive people around me and the manager is who he is and is a top manager. It’s a homely, family sort of environment.’

Simpson goes on to say that the way the team have played football since he came in to us has really pleased him, and he feels we’ve performed very well during pre season so far so he’s hopeful that we’ll have a good season and that he can play his part in that as well.

Beattie himself said of the player.

‘Luke’s come in and shown us that he’s a good keeper with a lot of potential. He’s impress us in training and in games and this is a great opportunity for him.’
