A Paul Linwood goal in the 22nd minute was enough to clinch the win for Chester City. As a free-kick was swung in from the right hand side, debutant goalkeeper Przemyslaw Kazimierczak attempted to get a hand on the ball but failed. The ball fell to Linwood who smashed the bal in to the bottom corner of the net.

Chester could have made it 2-0 but Simon Yeo’s powerful smash flew over the bar with loanee Kazimierczak beaten.

Accrington could have clawed theirselves level but both Rommy Boco and debutant forward Stuart Fleetwood, who signed a month’s loan deal from Hereford United in midweek, failed to net the ball.

As the game drew to a close, heavy fog desended over the Fraser Eagle, making seeing from one side to another impossible.

Stanley are now 21st in Coca-Cola League Two, and are equal on points with Macclesfield Town and Wrexham. Wrexham sit in the Relegation Zone, and are five points clear of the Football League’s lowest club, Torquay United.
