JOHN Coleman is trying desperately to bring out of contract Liverpool defender Godwin Antwi back to Accrington Stanley after a very impressive loan spell two seasons ago.

Antwi has been in East Lancashire for talks along with a number of other transfer targets, who manager Coleman is trying to persuade to join the Crown Ground club.

Along with Antwi is former loanees Greg Blundell, Michael Symes and Craig Lindfield, all of whom spent time with the club last season and helped steer the Reds to League Two safety.

Former Carlisle midfielder Luke Joyce is top of Coleman’s list though and the Scouse gaffer hopes to sign him on, but is facing stiff competition from Darlington, who can double the wages offered by Stanley.

In addition to these a number of trialists will be with the club for pre-season training and are to be looked at in the weeks leading up to the start of the season in August.
