Accrington Stanley Ladies exited the Lancashire County Cup yesterday after an emphatic 31-0 defeat against an extremely experienced Preston North End Women’s side, which included a number of former international and Premiership players.
It was only Stanley’s third game in what is their first season of existence and with a number of injuries Stanley, despite the result, put up a brave fight in front of a good crowd at Padiham Football Club.
Jaime Schofield and Charmaine Bradley were named as Stanley’s player’s of the match while both Suzanne Geldard (thigh) and Karen Fazackerley (knee) remained sidelined.

Gulp! Is that really 31-0? We need to know more. I hope we get updates because noone deserves a scoreline like that. Good luck for the future Stanley ladies.
Unfortunately the 31-0 scoreline is correct, but it did not reflect the effort that the ladies put in and hopefully they can rectify that on Sunday with a win at home against Padiham Ladies at Moorhead High School at 2pm.
